Faceless Portraits

Why Did You Pick This Particular Image Over The Others?
This particular photograph turned out to be my favourite in the series because it displays a beautifully contrasted array of colours that each tend to compliment one another. The use of space within this photograph is very effective. I also find the photograph to be very creepy and disturbing, yet somewhat comical at the same time.

2. How Did You Setup / Compose Your Photo?
In order to successfully snap this photograph, I placed my subject, a model, in front of a bright red, solid coloured wall. I stood directly in front of the subject. The model's arms and head are positioned in a certain way to create an effective use of space and a more interesting composition. The photograph is very symmetrical and well balanced. All of the colours found in the image all compliment and match each other quite well.

3. What Stands Out The Most When You First See It?
When viewing this photograph, my eyes are immediately drawn to the creepy mask on the model's face. The mask is bright white, making it a very effective focal point. The entire photograph is very bright, therefore, the red background is one of the first things my eyes notice.

4. What Leads Your Eye Around From Place To Place?
A typical person who is viewing this digital piece of imagery may look at it from top to bottom. One might normally look at the mask first, which is the focal point at the top, center of the photo. From there, one would normally scan the photograph all the way down to the bottom. It could likely be in a similar order as; mask, dread locks, text on the t-shirt, belt, pants, crystal, empty space/background.

5. What Title(s) Could You Give This Artwork?
Some titles that I would deem appropriate for this photograph are "Rain Unters" or "Masked Intruder".
"Rain Unters" is a great title because those are the only letters a viewer can read on the model's shirt. It actually says "Strain Hunters", but since his arms and dread locks are covering the first letters of each word, all that the viewer can read is "Rain Unters". This title gives the photograph a bit of a sense of comic relief.
"Masked Intruder", the second title, is more of an obvious one. The reasoning behind it is quite clear; the photograph features a masked man. The mask makes the character behind the mask seem unknown, so he may be thought of as an intruder or a stranger. The colour red throughout the photograph reinforces the whole "intruder" ideology because red is often a colour of evil, anger, violence, blood, etc. This title gives the photograph more a sinister twist.
