1. Why Did You Pick This Particular Image Over The Others?
This particular image turned out to be my favourite as it caught my eye the most! In this photograph, all of the wrinkles, cracks and lines present on this hand are easily visible to the human eye. This subtle detail captures my attention and certainly draws me in to the photograph. The turkey ring is a main focal point, which is an interesting object to lead the eye to.
2. How Did You Setup / Compose Your Photo?
I ensured that the hand was positioned in a perfect spot with the sunlight glistening off of it to create a rather lovely shadow effect. I also ensured that the background of the photograph was not busy and crowded, being sure to include the lines on the sidewalk and a patch of grass and leaves in the corner. I wanted to keep the photo very simple.
3. What Stands Out The Most When You First See It?
The turkey ring is what first captures my attention when I glance at this photograph. Then the wrinkles on the skin and bones in the hand stand out to me.
4. What Leads Your Eye Around From Place To Place?
The bones seem to work similar to leading lines as they direct my eyes all the way down to the goldstone bracelet. When glancing at the photograph, the turkey ring is a very noticeable focal point.
5. What Title(s) Could You Give This Artwork?
Some titles that I would deem appropriate for this image are “Lending a Hand at Thanksgiving”, “October” or “A Walk Through Autumn” because the presence of the turkey ring indicates that the season is most likely fall. This can be assumed since a turkey is a North American symbol for Thanksgiving and/or autumn.
